β€œTo put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order; we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right.”

~ CONFUCIUS

This article is about personal space, social space, universal space.

Personal space exists within our bodies and it is expressed through our minds. It is our "environment", an inner eco-system of ideas, memories, emotions - all mixed and blended together in a neural state of being.

Like all environments and all systems - we also experience conflicts, moments of chaos, and glimpses of perfect equilibrium.

As the quote states, "we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right", but what exactly does it mean? What is "right"? Where does "personal" start and where does it end?

I'd like to simplify.

The inner space exists exclusively in our minds.

The personal space contains the inner space and can extend to our body's physical proximity.

In Martial Arts for example - and when it comes to self-defense - we ideally protect our personal space, and not an inch farther than that. Extending that perimeter beyond our personal space would turn us into attackers, thus no longer in self-defense mode. We shift from protection to destruction.

This is important, because internal balance requires personal space safety, therefore we must understand how much effort, energy, time needs to be invested in order to achieve that internal balance...or in other words "inner peace."

Considering Confucius' idea, we must first achieve inner balance before we can bring balance beyond our personal space - to our families, to our collective, and to our world.

Remember,

The inner space exists exclusively in our minds. The personal space contains the inner space and can extend to our body's physical proximity.

Approached from this perspective, this subject branches out into a few sub-trains of thought: responsibility, accountability, willingness to become involved, and more.

The video below expresses my feelings and intentions I have for KineOasis and The Grasshoppers Club. This is the path I am inviting you on - a path of quietness and vital observation; a path of balance and centered power; a path of simplicity and honesty; a path of communion with nature...and our inner nature.
