Have you found your Oasis?

Expanding Above and Beyond the Noise

More than half a century into life and I keep getting closer and closer to the thought-feeling that the only thing that matters is TOUCH. For thousands of years, billions of people have designed or perpetuated models that I believe to be obsolete and even flat out destructive, so who am I to challenge this insane status quo on a pale blue dot lost in a freezing cold and deadly immensity of space?

But I just can't help it.

When my children draw close for a hug or a kiss, when my furry family members lean into my side and settle in comfort, when a student finally finds the state of mind to give themselves to movement, when the breeze sings through the treetops...that's when I keep getting closer to that thought-feeling of what truly matters while I am alive...and I become frustratingly aware of the "noise" our human world entraps us with, keeping us all away from that serenity of being and the simplicity of living.

For me, when I was young, reading, writing, and movement were the oasis I could always count on to expand away and beyond the noise of life. As I grew up, older and maybe wiser in some small ways, I realized how powerful Movement is, how elegantly we connect with life through it, and how much potential exists for ME within Movement.

There is a way to combine what we know about ourselves and about how the brain works with being in movement as a dynamic state of living. As a mentor of mine used to say to me in my teens, not only that "we bring the mind back" but, as we cancel the unnecessary noise of the artificial world we created we also give way to our inner power to be expressed and felt through every aspect of us being alive.

* NOTE: A needed explanation of my use of the word "touch" in the beginning is that I am not referring exclusively to our sense of touch, but to the general sense of connection and the mutual engagement that arises from that connection.

A few good reads for the end of the week for anyone interested in exploring the noise and its implications :)
